Sublimation is a professional printing method that uses heat and pressure to transfer dye onto specially coated materials or polyester fabrics. For this garden flag, the design is first printed using sublimation ink onto transfer paper. The printed paper is then placed onto the flag fabric and pressed at high temperatures—typically around 385°F to 400°F—using a heat press.
During the process, the solid dye particles turn into gas without becoming liquid (a phase change known as sublimation), allowing the ink to bond directly with the polyester fibers of the flag. This results in a permanent, full-color image that won’t peel, crack, or fade like traditional vinyl or screen printing.
